The youth who we serve are placed with us by the courts after it has been deemed that it is unsafe for them to remain with their caregivers due to abuse or neglect. Parental substance use/abuse is the leading cause of out-of-home placement of children and older youth. The primary goal of Children and Family Services at Christ’s Home is to reunite children in our care with their families. Our programs provide for routine visits of the disadvantaged children in our care with their families. Caregivers interact with the family to communicate the needs of each child and how they can best re-engage with their children. When circumstances prevent children from returning to their parents, Christ’s Home participates in finding a permanent home for the children. The programs teach children appropriate behavior through the instruction and personal example of Primary and Relief House Parents. The Christ’s Home community reinforces the message of God’s love for the children in our care and provides a model of positive and productive family living.
