International Ministry

The Need
In 1903 the founders of Christ’s Home looked out on the streets of Philadelphia and saw a great human need – that of orphans living on the streets. Filled with compassion and desire to impact their lives in the name of Jesus, they purchased a modest row house and opened Christ’s Home for Children. Times have changed and the need to care for orphans in our region is not like it was in 1903. However, the heartbeat to serve orphans and disadvantaged children lies deep within the mission of Christ’s Home.

What We Do and Where We Do It
Christ’s Home contributes to several international children’s ministries:

• Mahiga Children’s Home, located in Kenya, Africa, cares for 100 orphans.
• Open Door Lutsk Children’s Home, located in Lutsk, Ukraine, is a faith-based Christian ministry.
• Rancho Del Ray, located near Monterrey, Mexico, provides for the needs of boys born into backgrounds of extreme poverty and violence.
• Sunshine Ministries, located in Hyderabad, India, operates the Good Shepherd’s Home and School that serves over 100 children.

Periodically, some Christ’s Home staff and board members travel to visit these homes. They go to provide encouragement and training for the staff and to interact with the children and their extended family members.
